Cheap and tall: Feisol CT-3371. For shooting horizontally (with a Markin's ballhead) I have to lower it about 3-4" and I'm 6'. It's really sturdy. I've had it for 10 years now, and it works like new. A center column...

I don't have a BH-55 but use a Markins Q20 with quick release lever. I used it with a Sidekick and a Nikon D4s and 200-400mm f/4 lens and hauled them with the tripod over my shoulder all around Lake Clark National Park...

Markins, Kirk and RRS branded are the preferred L-brackets of most advanced and professional Nikonians. Most of mine are Markins, but also own a few Kirk and one RRS....

The Wonderpole looks like a painters pole with an adapter. I just got a camera adapter for a painters pole but have not used it yet. It will be used with a Markins Q3 head. The adapter is just $21.95. https...
