You'll also find it pronounced with an "ee" sound, which is closer to the original Japanese. Like many words, its pronunciation varies with the locale, and regional Nikon distributors tend to use the regional pronunciations...

I always thought Nikkor rhymed with Nikon in the first syllable. Just now on TV there was an add for the Nikon 5100 and the announcer pronounced Nikkor as thought it were KNICK-OR. Help Please! t. J. ray...

In the Nikon commercials here in the US featuring spokesman/actor Ashton Kutcher the announcer pronounces Nikon as Ny-kon (ny rhymes with by) and Nikkor as Nee-kor....

came in contact with a Nikon engineer. The pronunciation is closer to "knee-kohn". Much to their own bewilderment, in the US the common pronunciation... As non-Japanese we are not expected to pronounce anything Japanese right...
