Hi Stan, I have been using a Markins M20 for about 15 years and have never had an issue with the "safety pin" other than preventing the camera from sliding out when the clamp was not snugged down. Even with the A/S...

All my camera and lens A/S plates have the safety stop screws. The only way to put them in my clamps is to top load. ...
