I've always found a 24mm prime to excel at framing images at 24mm and a 35mm lens to be much more useful at 35mm....

Hi Michael, Welcome to Nikonians! Assuming that your 35mm prime is the 35mm f/2 or the 35mm f/1.4 and not the 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX, all of your lenses are fully compatible with FX bodies....

35mm is not an oddball, on a D300 it's a "normal" perspective. The new Nikon 35mm f1.8 AFS is fast, sharp, and cheap but it's DX and won't work on the F100....
