An SLR is surely more versatile, but try a contax G series rangefinder and you will surely notice the difference in terms of lens qulaity. There is simply no comparison. G2fan...

50mm is 50mm. In your example you will get the same picture from both lenses BUT it would be the equivalent of an image taken with a 75mm lens on an SLR....

Most lens are sharp in a curve so often testing on a flat target will show softness on the edges because the lens is sharp in front of the flat target....
