I have a Gitzo 2531 that I “MAGICA’d” about 8 years ago removing center column, adding a replacement base plate (Kirk plate IIRC), then topped off with a Markins Q10. II then bought a Wimberley Sidekick. It worked well...

I've been using a Markins Q10 with screw clamp as my big ball head for around ten years now. When I bought it the longest lens I had was the Nikon... an old Gitzo 3530LS with Markins center hub which I think should be enough...

I had a quick look at it but I don't think it would work with mine since I have the older model without the extra support hole. I also can't tell if Markins is active in North America anymore. It seems like the subsidiary...

Hi Chris, Markins Ball Heads are quite robust. I have a Q3 on my monopod and it supports my 400mm f/2.8 or 600mm f/4 and a D5 without issues... on a tripod, I use a Wimberly Sidekick mounted on a Markins Q20i or a RRS PG-02...

Not sure if you found the answer you're looking for. I also have a Markins Q10 and really like it. I consider it to be an end game purchase, for life... and easier as well as lighter to carry...Markins makes an attachment...
