Hi Matt, I have never inadvertently changed the tension setting on any of my Markins ball heads which is a function of the Markins design. Even my smallest Markins Q3 ball head can easily support my D5 with 400mm...

Hi Dennis, I have had my 3047 for well over three decades and continues to works very well with 4 x5, 8 x 10, and 11 x14 view cameras. I have not used it on a 35mm film body or DSLR since getting a Markins M20 ball head...
